Arsenal of Democracy
The Arsenl of Democracy:

Roosevelt had called Detroit, Michigan the "great arsenal of democracy" in reference to the rapid transition of much of the Detroit-area automotive industry's conversion to produce weapons during World War II. The speech was "a call to arms and support" the Allies in Europe and to a lesser extent in Asia, in their struggles against totalitarian regimes.

This photo essay explores the remaining legacy of Detroit's rise and fall as a manufacturing powerhouse. I hope these images start as point of conversation. When I walk through these structures thoughts constantly run through my mind ... so please indulge, ask yourself questions.

Detroit is magnificent, sometimes you have to see the bad to find the good. Or as I like to think, find beauty do not seek it.
