The sole concept and drive of this photo essay was to delicately explore the present reality of a once prominent city that has since experienced massive layoffs due to its dependence and reliance on the automotive industry. Not only are jobs lost, the domino effect created by the present economic decline has created a new world. As for many living here, churches are seen as a place of refuge, community and worship. However, in a city that is plagued by unemployment these sanctuaries are also struggling to survive.
